We aim to bring the wonders of the natural world into the classroom with our animal roadshows. These sessions can be tailored for any age and any curriculum needs, but are also suitable for uniform groups, fun days, birthday parties or even adult groups. The sessions all include the chance to handle live animals, including creepy crawlies, reptiles and mammals. We can also bring our biofacts such as animal skulls and eggs.
Our talks and visits are charged depending on duration and distance from each of our two zoos in Banham and Kessingland and are aimed to be affordable to our audience however this means we, effectively, subsidise these outreach visits.
The Zoological Society of East Anglia also subsidises direct visits to both Banham Zoo and Africa Alive! for schools at considerable cost, running in to tens of thousands of pounds in subsidised visits. These visits build awareness of the plight of our planet and open up new and exciting opportunities to children that would otherwise miss out on some of these awe inspiring creatures.
It currently costs us around £10,000 a year to fund this element of our work - funding that is not guaranteed and relies on fluctuating ticket sales at Banham Zoo and Africa Alive! With your support we can secure the future of this work, spreading the passion to defend wildlife to the next generation.
